Enquiry Fund

The Enquiry Department ´tool up´ for a meeting with HMRC
As a client of Christopher Lunn and Company you will receive, once a year, the opportunity to sign up for our non-commercial professional fees cover. This opportunity is given to you by way of a letter, an invoice and an explanatory leaflet sent out in the months of February and March of each year.
As you are submitting Self Assessment tax returns, via us as your agent, Her Majesty´s Revenue and Customs (HMRC) reserve the right to enquire into that submission and to ask questions about the entries contained within it. In short they operate a ‘process now – check later’ system. For the most recent tax return submitted, HMRC have up to 12 months after the filing date (the date HMRC received your submission from us) to take a look into your return.
We understand that being under Investigation from HMRC is stressful enough without us adding to your worries by issuing bills for our assistance. Our solution has been to set up an HMRC Enquiries Fund where we charge an optional annual premium, invoice enclosed, to all our clients. On payment of this invoice you will opt in to the fund and immediately be covered against all of our fees for any potential investigation into the 2008/09 Tax Return.
An explanation of the scheme and answers to many of the most common questions can be found in the PDF document below, however, should you have any queries please do not hesitate to contact the Enquiry Department or your Accounts Team.
